Our Practice

Therapeutic Care Approach

At Avanti Children Services, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing and therapeutic environment for children and young people. Our practice is rooted in evidence-based therapeutic methods designed to support the emotional, psychological, and physical well-being of each child.

Dyadic Developmental Practice (DDP)

We utilise the principles of Dyadic Developmental Practice (DDP) to guide our therapeutic parenting approach. DDP is based on creating a connection between the child and caregiver through:

Playfulness: Bringing joy and light-heartedness into daily interactions.

Acceptance: Validating the child’s feelings and experiences without judgement.

Curiosity: Showing interest in the child’s thoughts and feelings to understand their perspective.

Empathy: Demonstrating understanding and compassion for the child’s emotional state.

This approach helps children build secure attachments and develop a positive sense of self.

Trauma-Informed Care

At Jasmine House, we employ therapeutic parenting techniques based on Dyadic Developmental Practice (DDP). Our carers are trained to provide care with Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy (PACE). This approach helps children build secure attachments and a positive sense of self, crucial for their emotional and psychological development.

Individualised Care Plans

Each child at Jasmine House receives an Individualised Care Plan tailored to their specific needs and circumstances. These plans are developed in collaboration with the child, their family, social workers, and other professionals involved in their care. The plans include:

Emotional and Behavioural Response Plans

Strategies to support the child in managing their emotions and behaviours positively.

Health and Well-being Plans

Ensuring the child’s physical and mental health needs are met through regular medical appointments, therapy, and healthy living practices.

Educational Support Plans

Assisting the child in accessing and succeeding in educational settings, including support with homework and participation in extracurricular activities.

Staff Training and Development

Our team undergoes comprehensive training to ensure they are equipped to provide the highest standard of care. Training includes:

Therapeutic Parenting and DDP: Core training in therapeutic methods and principles.

Safeguarding and Child Protection: Ensuring all staff are knowledgeable about safeguarding protocols and how to protect the children in our care.

Specialist Training: Including areas such as managing challenging behaviours, supporting children with special educational needs, and understanding the effects of trauma.

Commitment to Continuous Improvement

We are committed to continuous improvement in our practice. Regular reviews, feedback from children and their families, and external inspections help us maintain high standards and make necessary adjustments to our care methods.
